The ABB CM-IWS.1S Insulation Monitoring Relay is a compact and highly reliable device designed to continuously monitor insulation resistance in unearthed (IT) AC and DC power systems. It plays a critical role in detecting insulation faults at an early stage, helping to prevent equipment damage, unplanned downtime, and safety risks in industrial and infrastructure applications.
The CM-IWS.1S operates by continuously measuring the insulation resistance between live conductors and earth. When the resistance drops below a preset threshold, the relay triggers an alarm, allowing maintenance personnel to take corrective action before a critical fault develops. This makes it especially valuable in systems where uninterrupted operation is required, such as control circuits, power distribution systems, and automation installations.
