FAQ

1. What is the required target material for proper calibration?
The probe is calibrated for use with AISI 4140 steel or an equivalent material with a relative permeability / μr ≈ 1. Using a different material will affect the output sensitivity and require recalibration.

2. Can the extension cable be spliced or repaired if damaged?
序号 Splicing or repairing the coaxial cable is not recommended. Any alteration can change the cable’s capacitance and electrical characteristics, which will severely impact system calibration and measurement accuracy. The entire cable must be replaced.

3. What is the purpose / the gap voltage?
The gap voltage (or average DC voltage) represents the average distance between the probe tip and the target. It is used to set the probe’s initial installed gap within its linear range to ensure accurate AC vibration measurement.

4. How does temperature affect the probe’s operation?
Temperature changes can cause thermal growth / the machinery and slight drift in the probe’s electronic characteristics. For critical applications, a dual probe setup (X-Y configuration) is used to compensate for this radial shaft movement.

5. What could cause a -24 VDC power supply alarm on the monitor?

6. Why is the signal output measured as negative voltage?
