The Allen Bradley 1769-L31 CompactLogix Dual Serial Port Controller is a compact programmable automation controller designed for industrial applications requiring dual serial communication and reliable control. Part / the CompactLogix family, this controller provides an efficient solution for machines and systems that need both processing power and serial connectivity without Ethernet integration.
Equipped with two RS‑232 serial ports, the controller enables communication with various industrial devices such as operator interfaces, barcode scanners, and serial drives. One port is channel-isolated (Ch0) for safety and signal integrity, while the second port (Ch1) is non-isolated. The integrated controller can manage up to 16 local I/O modules across 3 I/O banks, allowing flexible system expansion.
With 512 KB user memory, the 1769-L31 can store control programs, configuration settings, and communication data. Its compact size and open-style enclosure make it suitable for small control cabinets and OEM machinery where space is limited.
