The Allen Bradley 1761-NET-ENI EtherNet Interface Module is a compact communication adapter designed to provide EtherNet connectivity to MicroLogix controllers through a serial interface. Developed by Allen-Bradley, this module enables legacy serial-based controllers to communicate over standard TCP/IP networks without replacing the existing PLC hardware.
The 1761-NET-ENI converts DF1 serial protocol into EtherNet/IP-compatible messaging, allowing MicroLogix 1000, 1200, and 1500 controllers to exchange data with SCADA systems, HMIs, programming workstations, and peer controllers across an Ethernet network. It is particularly valuable in modernization projects where Ethernet infrastructure already exists but the control system still relies on serial communication.
Its compact structure, DIN rail mounting, and straightforward configuration make it suitable for small and medium-sized automation systems that require remote monitoring, data acquisition, or plant-wide connectivity.
